ABOUT RAVEN
Raven are an English heavy metal band formed in 1974 by the Gallagher brothers, bassist and vocalist John and guitarist Mark. Emerging from Newcastle, the band became a key force in the early-to-mid 1980s new wave of British heavy metal, earning a reputation for their speed, aggression and unrelenting energy – a style they famously dubbed “athletic rock”.
With a run of influential early releases and a hit single in ‘On and On’, Raven quickly distinguished themselves as innovators rather than followers. Their high-octane approach proved hugely influential on the emerging thrash metal movement, inspiring bands across the genre’s spectrum, including Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax, as well as Testament, Exodus, Kreator, Destruction and many more. Raven’s importance is further underlined by their role in headlining Metallica’s first-ever national tour in 1983, a moment etched into metal history.
That same ferocity and forward momentum powers All Hell’s Breaking Loose, released worldwide via Silver Lining Music in June 2023. Recorded at Heaven And Heller Studios in Los Angeles with drummer Mike Heller, the album delivers crisp, visceral metal packed with riffs, twists, chaos and hooks, proving that Raven remain as fast, fearless and vital as ever – a band still breaking loose, still pushing forward, and still demanding that the volume be turned all the way up.
