ABOUT MINISTRY

Formed in Chicago in 1981, Ministry has been the lifelong creative vehicle of founder Al Jourgensen and a defining force in the evolution of industrial music. Emerging from the Wax Trax! scene with early synth-pop releases and 1983’s With Sympathy, Ministry rapidly transformed into something darker, harsher and more confrontational as the decade progressed, forging a sound that would permanently alter the heavy music landscape.

Albums such as Twitch, The Land of Rape and Honey and The Mind Is a Terrible Thing to Taste established Ministry as pioneers of an aggressive, mechanised fusion of electronics and metal, while 1992’s Psalm 69 propelled the band into the mainstream without dulling its edge. Across four decades, Ministry’s influence has been felt far beyond industrial music itself, earning six Grammy nominations and shaping generations of artists across metal, alternative and electronic music.

Silver Lining Music’s live releases capture Ministry at a decisive and historic moment. The Last Tangle In Paris documents what was presented as the band’s final live performance, a time-capsule of a group that rewrote the rules of heavy music, complete with rare backstage footage and interviews. Live at Wacken 2012 captures the closing night of the tour before 75,000 fans and stands as one of the final filmed performances of longtime guitarist Mike Scaccia, making it not just a powerful live document, but an irreplaceable piece of Ministry’s history.
