ABOUT DAMPF
DAMPF remain unique in their idiosyncrasy. With everything they do, contrasts and opposites sit at the heart of the band’s identity – Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, dreams and nightmares, comedy and tragedy. Through it all runs a common thread of theatre, grandiosity and an overwhelming confidence in embracing the unpredictable.
Those dualities are brought vividly to life on No Angels Alive, the band’s second album, released on 23 August 2024 via Silver Lining Music. A fully immersive, ten-song storytelling experience, the album blends expansive yet tightly bound stylistic ingredients, incorporating hard rock, thrash, melodic power metal and electronic edges. Led by singer and songwriter A-TRON, DAMPF guide listeners through theatrical chaos and colour, where beautiful, catchy melody finds ample room alongside the overall brutality of the music.
Tracks such as ‘War With The World’ and ‘Might As Well Have Died’ present two opposing tales of light and darkness, set against gothic dungeons, misty forests and cinematic atmospheres. Recorded at Yard Street Studios in Sweden and produced by Jona Tee, No Angels Alive plays like a grand collective performance piece – scary yet colourful, heavy yet catchy. Listen with a genreless mind and an open heart, and the rewards of DAMPF’s bold, fearless vision are plentiful.
