ABOUT DIAMOND HEAD

Diamond Head are one of the most important and influential bands to emerge from the New Wave of British Heavy Metal. Formed in Stourbridge, West Midlands in 1976, the band helped define a movement that reshaped heavy music worldwide, and are widely cited by Metallica, Megadeth and countless others as a crucial early influence. At the heart of Diamond Head has always been guitarist Brian Tatler, whose riffs and songwriting have genuinely helped define a genre.

Rising through the late 1970s and early 1980s alongside the NWOBHM explosion, Diamond Head built a formidable reputation on powerful songs, ambitious arrangements and a fiercely independent spirit. Early releases such as Lightning to the Nations laid the groundwork for a catalogue that balanced aggression with melody and progressive ambition, while later albums Borrowed Time and Canterbury saw the band reach the UK charts, tour major venues and share stages with acts including Black Sabbath. Though commercial success often proved elusive, their influence only grew with time.

After periods of inactivity and reinvention, Diamond Head returned in the 2000s with renewed momentum, touring internationally and releasing new studio material. Since 2014, fronted by vocalist Rasmus Bom Andersen, the band have enjoyed a particularly strong creative run, including the Silver Lining Music releases Death And Progress, The Coffin Train, Lightning To The Nations 2020, Lightning To The Nations (The White Album) [Remastered 2021] and Live And Electric, all of which reaffirmed their relevance and power in the modern metal landscape.

That legacy is celebrated on Live and Electric, a thunderous live album recorded on tour in 2022. Spanning performances across the UK, it captures the unmistakably British energy of Diamond Head in full flight, seamlessly blending early classics such as ‘The Prince’, ‘It’s Electric’ and ‘Am I Evil?’ with later material. Live and Electric stands not as a snapshot of a moment, but as a powerful reminder of a band whose music feels as fresh, vital and important now as it ever has.
