ABOUT MORBID ANGEL

Morbid Angel are an American death metal band formed in Tampa, Florida in 1983 by guitarist and primary composer Trey Azagthoth. Widely considered one of the most influential and emulated bands in the genre, Morbid Angel were central to the transition of death metal from its thrash roots, helping define the form’s darker atmosphere, guttural vocals, up-tempo blast beats and violent tempo shifts.

Across a landmark early run, the band set a brutal standard with genre classics such as Altars of Madness (1989), Blessed Are the Sick (1991) and Covenant (1993). They also became one of the first death metal bands to break into the mainstream conversation, from major-label visibility to iconic moments in heavy music culture, while remaining a benchmark for extremity and innovation.

That legacy surged forward on Kingdoms Disdained, released worldwide on 1 December 2017 via Silver Lining Music, reuniting Azagthoth with bassist and vocalist Steve Tucker for what the band described as a “world beating apocalyptic soundtrack”. Recorded at Mana Studios in St. Petersburg, Florida and produced by Morbid Angel with Erik Rutan, the album delivers 11 pieces of devastatingly dynamic death metal, with tracks like ‘Garden of Disdain’, ‘Architect and Iconoclast’ and ‘The Pillars Crumbling’ capturing the searing, incendiary force of Morbid Angel at full power.
