Apocalyptica returned to their purest creative essence with Cell-0, a bold and immersive statement that reconnects the band with the instrumental core from which their sound was born. Stripping away vocals and expectations, the quartet pushed deeper into uncharted musical territory, reaffirming their role as fearless explorers of heavy music.
Formed in Helsinki in 1993 by classically trained musicians, Apocalyptica carved out a genre of their own by fusing the power and aggression of metal with the emotional depth and precision of the cello. Over the decades, the band have achieved multi-platinum success, global touring acclaim and a reputation for constantly evolving without ever losing their identity.
Released on 10 January 2020 via Silver Lining Music, Cell-0 marked Apocalyptica’s first fully instrumental album in 17 years. Epic, cinematic and emotionally charged, the record challenges both listener and performer, uncovering new colours, textures and intensities within the cello itself.
