ABOUT HEAVY WATER
Heavy Water is a rock band born from collaboration, creativity and bloodline, featuring Biff Byford alongside his son Seb Byford. Initially formed as a lockdown project, Heavy Water quickly evolved into something far more vital – a band driven by shared experience, mutual respect and a love of timeless rock ’n’ roll.
That connection flows freely through Dreams of Yesterday, released on 29 September 2023 via Silver Lining Music. A groove-saturated, riff-mighty and hip-shaking collection, the album benefits from the tighter, sharper cohesion of a second release, with Seb revelling in the dual role of guitarist, vocalist and producer, and Biff fully embracing his role as collaborator, bassist and co-vocalist. Pulling from the experience, influence and craft of Biff and fusing it with fresh twists invoking Led Zeppelin, Soundgarden and Alice In Chains, the record crackles with energy and confidence.
From the bombastic, melodic swamp-stomp of ‘Shadows of Life’, to the spiky, punk-dipped drive of ‘Another Day’ and the high-energy, indie-tinged swirl of ‘Be My Saviour’, Dreams of Yesterday keeps you on your toes throughout. Recorded at the Big Silver Barn in York and mixed by Jacky Lehmann alongside Jamie Scarratt, with assured drumming from Tom Witts and additional colour from Dave Kemp, the album stands as a genre-less celebration of exciting, engaging and wholly egoless music. Fresh, alive and present, Heavy Water are very much in the now.
